Location Description

The Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing is a great place to stay during your visit to Philadelphia. Its location is unique: it’s the only hotel located directly on the Delaware River Waterfront at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia’s downtown. The Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing’s 350 well-appointed guest rooms and 24,000 square feet of meeting space offer an experience that is hard to match. The guest rooms are fitted with sleek work desks, along with 32” LCD televisions and wall-mounted, plug-n-play consoles for Wi-Fi internet access. Dark wood furnishings, leather lounge chairs, contemporary lighting and gorgeous bathrooms complete the newly renovated guest rooms, which also come with stunning city or river views.

Overview

The Restaurant Greeter will be responsible for welcoming guests and escorting them to their seats for dining in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service.  Specifically, the Greeter is responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Maintain a continuous presence at the host/hostess stand in order to greet guests as they arrive, offers choice of seating, then escorts guests to their table and promptly presents menus.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of menu, and our restaurants’ internal and external environments. 
  • Monitor restaurant activity to determine seating and dining flow
  • Perform opening and closing duties, as needed
  • Assist others with side work including, but not limited to cleaning, stocking, folding silverware, etc.
  • Respond to guest inquiries and requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner
  • Assist fellow team members and other departments wherever necessary to maintain positive working relationships

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS 

 

  • Education: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. 
  • Experience: Prior customer service experience required. Prior restaurant experience or other prior hospitality experience preferred. 
  • Licenses or certificates: No special licenses required. CPR certification and/or First Aid training preferred. 
  • Grooming: All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available). 
  • Note: This is a full-time position that requires working weekends and holidays based on business needs. Flexible scheduling availability is required.

 

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

 

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. 

 

  • Ability to answer and prioritize incoming phone calls on a multi-line system.
  • Basic mathematical skills. Ability to operate a point-of-sale system
  • Ability to effectively deal with and resolve conflict situations, such as inaccurate check total.
  • Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to understand menus and special promotions, and communicate with Guests. 
  • Ability to sit and/or stand and work continually in confined spaces.
