Promote Hotel's marketing programs. Make appropriate selection of rooms based on guest needs. Code electronic keys. Non-verbally confirm the room number and rate.  - Accepts payments. Processes cash and credit card transactions according to established policies and procedures. Handle cash, make change and balance an assigned house bank. Accept and record vouchers, and other forms of payment. Post charges to guest rooms and house accounts using the computer. - Promptly answer the telephone using positive and clear English communication. Input messages into the computer. Retrieve messages and communicate the content to the guest. Retrieve mail, small packages and facsimiles for customers as requested. - Maintains a house bank. Prepares accurate report of receipts and makes daily deposit. - Close guest accounts at time of check out and ascertain satisfaction. In the event of dissatisfaction, negotiate compromise, which may include authorizing revenue allowances. - Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency and/or heavy hotel activity, and resolve complications such as location changes or credit issues. - Responds to guests' requests promptly. Promotes hotel's services, facilities and outlets and provides guests with directions and information on local attractions and restaurants. - Take ownership of guests challenges and follow through to ensure guest satisfaction.  - Resolves minor guest complaints promptly and professionally. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction. Informs supervisor of major issues. Salary Range -  $55,000 - $60,000   We offer our employees the following benefits: • Free AC Transit Passes! • Free Employee Meal Plan! • Comprehensive employee benefit/insurance programs! • Company Paid Life & AD&D Insurance! • 401K with Employer Match! • Paid Time Off! • Tuition Reimbursement! • Holiday Pay! • Travel Discounts with Marriott brand & Pyramid Hotel Group properties!   Responsibilities Include: - Orchestrate and expedite the registration and checkout process at the front desk. - Oversee the daily operation of the front desk. - Assist in the management of the Front Office team. - Provide exceptional customer service to our guests from the Front Desk, including but not limited to checking guests in to the hotel, checking guests out of the hotel, and answering all guest questions or concerns. - Supervise the Front Office team, ensuring proper procedures are followed and guest interactions are favorable. Provide real time feedback and coaching for continued improvement of the team. - Develop and maintain programs to improve the operations of the Front Office team, especially in relation to upsell revenues, customer service scores, loyalty enrollments, and employee engagement. - Assist in handling difficult situations, including but not limited to face to face interactions, phone calls, or electronic correspondence. - Manage ongoing training to Front Office team. - Maintain all front desk related equipment and a par stock of supplies. - Maintain a daily log of all guests’ opportunities with corrective action steps. Follow-up on any unresolved situations in a timely manner and pass on appropriate information to other Managers for handling. - Follow-up on credit opportunities. - Perform duties as the Manager on Duty for the entire hotel when needed. - Ensure all necessary reports and forms are completed daily. - Review current day’s expected arrivals and check all VIP and special request reservations to ensure that they are pre-registered, blocked properly and other departments are notified of room assignment. - Direct and train front office staff. Assist in new-hire and on-going training.  Direct and assist front office staff in organizing breaks, ensuring that all work is completed efficiently and according to schedule. - Create and manage weekly schedule and adjust accordingly to ensure budget guidelines are followed. - Other duties as required/assigned.   The Residence Inn by Marriott Berkeley is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to a diverse and inclusive work environment.
